Patients were divided into 3 groups according to the clinical group of ACS. A group of healthy donors of similar age was taken as a control (n = 10). Genetic polymorphism of promoter zone of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) by polymerase chain reaction, activity of MMP-2 and MMP-9 - by gelatin-zymography, level of a specific tissue inhibitor-1 of matrix metalloproteinase by enzyme immunoassay were studied in all patients. Analysis of gelatinases promotor zone showed that C/C genotype of zone (-1562) of MMP-9 gene prevailed in patients. The frequency of this genotype is 86% in patients with Q-myocardial infarction, 82% - in patients with non Q-myocardial infarction and 70% with CIHD. Sex differences in distribution of genotype and allele frequencies in the studied groups were found.
