The material obtained from different regions of the Black Sea, including the great depths of the Bosporus area, as well as the Arabian Sea and coastal zone of Oman. The monitoring of biodiversity (including identified invasive species) was done; biocenotic relations and their change under the influence of natural and anthropogenic factors are investigated; zoning of the coastal area of Crimea was made and the basic and local biocenosis and taxocenes are described. Work presented in the report is made according with the main objectives identified in the "Strategic Action Plan for the Black Sea" (1996), and the results were used in developing a "Strategic Action Plan for the Protection and Rehabilitation of the Black Sea" (2009). For the first time a landscape approach for large region was used to study the structure of plant communities, their relationship with the peculiarities of the local habitat is investigated. Mapping of the seabed and coastal plant communities was done; the local habitat types within the reserve "Kazachya Bay" and "Cape Fiolent" are mapped. New data on the areales of species that need the protection at national and regional level are obtained, and proposed a list of species for inclusion in the Regional Environmental List. Reorganization of intraspecific structure of the Black Sea anchovy is noted; there were made some recommendations on environmentally appropriate mode of fishing. Ichthyofauna of the natural and man-made reservoirs of the majority of the Crimean was studied.
