Purpose of the study - to investigate a history of formation, as well as thematic, typological features of unique collections as an important historical sources and historical monuments. The study of archaeological elements of historical collections, including book and periodical collections, art collections, manuscripts collections from institutions (Shevchenko Scientific Society, People's House, Ossolineum, Studion etc.) and prominent public and cultural figures (M. Wozniak, A. Petrushevych , Bavorovski, Pavlikovski etc.), their bibliographic reconstruction; complying passports on unique collections, creating the electronic database. Results of research: historical and bibliographic databases, certification of collections: institutional (Shevchenko Scientific Society, the People's House, Ossolineum, Studion) and personal (M. Wozniak, A. Petrushevych, Bavorovski, Pavlikovski and others). Directories were complied on books and periodicals collection of M. Wozniak, former "special fund", a collection of photoes, maps, visual documents, music collections, religious codes. "Guide of manuscripts collection" was complied.
