Their role in pathogenesis, disease activity and progression has been established. For the first time the role of cytomegalovirus, herpesvirus and Epstein-Barr virus was assessed along with cytokine status indices in children with different forms of rheumatic disease. Methods of prevention and of pathogenetic treatment were proposed and further developed with the use of the current immunomodulating agents. The types of inflammatory response in bronchitis and bronchial asthma were correlated with the external respiration indices permitting to introduce differential approach to treatment and early rehabilitation. The diagnosed eosiniphilic inflammatory response permits to define the need and duration of anti-inflammatory and antiallergic therapy, while the neutrophilic inflammatory response implies the need of an adequate sanation. Rehabilitation of children with exacerbations of bronchitis and bronchial asthma was supplemented with the methods of speleotherapy. Etiology of pyelonephritis was studied in a pediatric population allowing further perfection of treatment approaches as well as improvement of effectiveness of therapy and adequacy of rehabilitation measures. Characteristics of metabolism of microelements were studied in young children with iron deficiency. Characteristics of the immune system were studied in young children with iron deficiency anemia. Correlations between microelement concentration in biological fluids (blood, urine) and immune resistance in young children with iron deficiency anemia were studied.
