In conventional spectrophotometers infrared sample is illuminated with broadband radiation, and the waves are allocated the correct length after the sample compartment (sample chamber) with a monochromator. 2. Currently known structures IR monochromator (both prism and diffraction) is a high-optical-mechanical systems. The structure may be somewhat simplified by narrowing the spectral range investigated, while the requirements for accuracy and resolution monochromator (and therefore the design and the accuracy of the optical and mechanical components) are retained in full. The possibility of creating a specialized unit in a classic case using the original technical solutions aimed at reducing the cost of the device when it is mass production, to be considered and evaluated in the first stage. 3. An interesting alternative to the classical monochromator can be spectrometers based on monochromatic light sources with tunable wavelength. Known optical circuits generating infrared radiation with wavelength tuning based on difference-frequency generators and parametric oscillators. Such schemes do not require a monochromator, but the essential problem of their application for the creation of a specialized module is the use of the composition of relatively expensive laser sources, the need of precision wavelength measurement, the problems of thermal stabilization of nonlinear crystals, the need for phase-matching conditions, etc. Be carrying out theoretical estimates and experimental modeling procedures based on these principles, in order to determine the prospects of their use for the development of a specialized module. 4. Recently, significant progress in the development of lasers, mid-infrared range - the so-called quantum-cascade lasers. The wavelength range of the generation of such lasers may be from 2.75 to 250 microns, so that they can be used as a monochromatic source within the specialized module without additional wavelength conversion systems. Of the generation of monochromatic radiation such lasers with the required wavelength, wavelength control, the issues of spectroscopy with the use of lasers today are new and poorly understood. However, the use of new laser sources may be one of the most promising ways to implement this project, and must be specifically studied for the first phase.
