For the first time using electrophysiological approaches (patch-clamp whole cell) has been demonstrated that under normal TRPM8 channel is expressed in the apical plasma membrane prostate epithelial cells of rats. It is concluded that the differences observed in the behavior of males and females in innocuous cold temperatures, as well as functional properties of TRPM8 cold receptors through differential regulation of TRPM8 channel, independent of sex steroid hormones, testosterone and / or 17 beta-estradiol. In the study of malignant-transformed prostate cancer cells caused by excessive proliferation, it was shown that this is accompanied by reduced ability to apoptosis of the loss of the normal control of these two processes. In this case, calcium ions play a central role and act as the primary signaling agent. Disclosure of the basic molecular mechanisms involved in the functioning of specific cellular responses of Ca-binding proteins may help in developing new strategies in the treatment of prostate cancer.
