The mathematical dependences of the system are obtained, which allow to define the working thickness of the coating with the best performing characteristics of treated surface. A method of obtaining an indicator of surface roughness which is predetermined by the specifications is developed, in surface performed by cutting in a single pass in the most qualitative layer of the coatings thickness in range 0.6...2.4 mm. Graphics, with the help of which it is allowed to assign a general allowance for processing the coatings of different thickness (within 0.6...2.4 mm) are built.
