The procedure of setting boundary conditions on the continuous-casted slab surface in CCM secondary cooling zone is improved. On the basis of the improved procedure of boundary conditions calculation a mathematical model of calculation of strand surface cooling conditions in CCM secondary cooling zone is developed. The model allows to analyze cooler distribution in CCM secondary cooling zone of set design. The analysis of effect of the various cross-section strands thermal state on the possibility of corner crack formation is conducted. Options for adjusting the cooling water consumption by the nozzles of secondary cooling zone to optimize the thermal profile of strands made of peritectic steel are considered. The unbending section cooling zone and the preceding zone are accepted as optimal ones for water consumption adjustment. Developed conditions on the basis of research modes of secondary cooling zone have allowed to improve slab surface quality.
