Annotated This report summarizes the current understanding of pools and streams Carbon in forest ecosystems, biological cycle of carbon and productivity ecosystems. Given a description of the main reservoirs of carbon in terrestrial ecosystems: aboveground and underground phytomass, debris, litter (detritus) and organic matter of the soil. We consider flows of carbon in forest ecosystems, among which are the main photosynthetic flow (from the atmosphere into biomass) and mineralizatsiynyy flow (from the soil, detritus and debris into the atmosphere). outlined Prospects and Challenges introduction of modern methods for assessing carbon stocks in forest ecosystems in Ukraine.
