Objective of the work is creation of individual hardware and technical means and system as a whole, with optimizing of their software, which are designed for continuous acoustic-emission (AE) monitoring and diagnostics of process piping of a shop for ammonia production under plant conditions; development of normative documentation; commissioning AE system on ammonia process piping in the mode of trial operation. Testing facility and procedure of testing samples under the conditions of high-temperature loading have been developed. Sample testing was conducted, which allowed obtaining AE characteristics from 12Kh1810T steel at up to 560 C temperatures and showed that AE method allows both determination of developing defect coordinates and prediction of material condition at such temperatures. Setting of checking routines in the mode of checking on simulators was performed, including application of built into AE transducers test signal simulators and “classical” procedure of signal simulation by breaking a graphite rod. Renewed capabilities of AE signal clustering and filtering were also verified. Performed verification showed the effectiveness of conducted developments and they were put into operation. Level of introduction: In keeping with the developed statement of work an operating sample of AE equipment was tested in the laboratory, mounted and commissioned in Odessa Port Plant (OPP) for continuous monitoring of piping of ammonia producing shop #2, operating at increased pressures and temperatures. Specialized variant of piping monitoring program was developed, which includes adapted to production conditions algorithms of AE source location and separation of useful signals from the general noise background. EMA-3.9 software was adapted to the requirements of continuous monitoring of piping. Instruction and technical documentation on introduction of AE monitoring on OPP TsPrA piping, operating at increased pressures and temperatures, were developed and provided to the customer. Applications: tube and shell welded structures in long-term operation under the conditions of high temperatures and in aggressive media of ammonia type.
