Analysis of the microstructure of the cross and longitudinal sections of the resulting composite showed that throughout the speed range of crystallization they represent a matrix of solid solution of molybdenum directionally reinforced in the direction of growth dendritic and lamellar inclusions of molybdenum silicide (Mo3Si) and intermetallic phase Mo5SiB2 (T2- phase). Moreover, the increasing in the rate of crystallization naturally leads to a reduction in the size of structural components. X-ray analysis confirmed the presence of only three phases in the co grown mposites. The mechanical behavior of the directionally solidified eutectic Mo-17,5at.%Si-8t.%B alloy in the temperature range 871 - 1093 °C was investigated. The high-temperature creep of composites was also investigated. It is shown that the the directionally solidified eutectic Mo-17,5at.%Si-8t.%B alloy has improved creep resistance and represents a promising material for the manufacture of gas turbine engines , as well as in other areas of high-temperature technology.
