Research purpose - research, development and design of new magnetic focussing systems for intense electron beams and experimental investigation of operation parameters of THz BWO-Clinotrons with designed MFS. Methods of Research - the numerical simulation of both magnetic systems and slow-wave structures of BWO-Clinotrons; theoretical analysis of electron beam transportation in 3-D magnetic field; experimental investigation of developed oscillator parameters with the help of well-developed expetimental methods. Simulation results of dispersion characteristics of slow-wave systems of BWO-Clionotrons for both 300 GHz and 400 GHz ranges have been obtained and analyzed. The compact magnetic focussing system with the weight of 10 kg was developed to provide the magnetic field of 1.2T in the gap of 32 mm between system poles. Designed MFS was applied for intense electron beam focussing in THz BWO-Clinotron. The simulation results of the influence of magnetic field inhomogeneity on oscillator output parameters were obtained. It was shown that the application of weakly inhomogeneous magnetic field for electron beam focussing leads to a decrease of Clinotron-oscillator start current. The results of experimental investigation of BWO-Clinotrons with developed magnetic system in the frequency ranges from 280 to 325 GHz and from 340 to 410 GHz showed that both output power and frequency range of the tubes is equal to the tube parameters in the case of the application of electromagnets. The results of the development and the investigation of magnetic focussing system can be used in development of packaged compact VED of THz range.
