Analysis of the spectra of C/2002 VQ94 (LINEAR) revealed the presence of the CO+ and N2+ emissions in the cometary coma at a distance of 8.36 au from the Sun. Only continuum due to scattering of the solar radiation by dust particles, with no traces of emissions, was detected in the spectrum obtained in 2009 when the comet was at a distance of 9.86 au. Images obtained through continuum filters indicate a high level of physical activity. The calculated Af parameters correspond to dust production rates between 20-30 kg/sec and 5-9 kg/s at distances of 8.36 and 13.40 au respectively. There is an obvious correlation between the considerable decrease of the dust production rate of the nucleus and the disappearance of the emissions in the spectrum of C/2002 VQ94 (LINEAR) at heliocentric distances greater than 9 au. The spectra of comet C/2006 S3 (LONEOS) have no emission lines in the visible spectral range. The calculated Af values imply the dust production rates within the interval of 3 and 15 kg/s, when the comet was on the inbound part of its orbit between 13.8 and 7.2 a.u. Considerable increase of the physical activity of the cometary nucleus took place, probably, between 10 and 7 a.u., which correspond to the equilibrium temperatures of 90 - 100K. The increase of the physical activity in this temperature range was likely caused by annealing of amorphous ices under the solar radiation. Product Description popup.authors Іванова О. В. Корсун П.
