Their grwoth parameters were studied on different nutrient media. Salt and growth regulators compositions can reliably change biomass accumulation of root cultures. Transgenic hairy roots of Convolvulus tricolor, Godetia grandiflora, Valeriana officinalis, Helianthus tuberosus were induced. Water- and DMSO-extracts of different plant organs including roots were studied as for antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis. Antimicrobial activity of Setcreasea purpurea and Plumbago zeinalica roots against B.subtilis has been shown. A number of root cultures of different plant species showed considerable antioxidant activity. Polyfructan accumulation in root cultures was studied. Isolated roots of Silybum marianum and Saussurea porcii are characterized with high levels of their accumulation. Methyl jasmonate impact on growth parameters, biological activity and secondary metabolites was initiated. HPLC chromatography showed some alterations in metabolite profiles in green organs of Psoralea ensifolia under methyl jasmonate impact.
