The purpose of research is to develop the method, algorithm, and software for satellite image georeferencing. The methods of research are structural and functional analysis, statistical methods, methods of object-oriented design. This report presents the work on developing the method and the algorithm for development of test version of software for automatic georeferencing of satellite images with medium spatial resolution. Developed software is tested on satellite images of national Sich-2 optical medium resolution satellite. We performed an accuracy assessment of our software in comparison to georeferencing of Sich-2 images using orbital data only. The assessment was performed on a diverse set of 73 Sich-2 images. The mean root mean squared error decreased in 42 times in comparison with error of georeferencing by orbital data only (from 590 m to 14 m) and decreased in 4 times in comparison with existing algorithms.
