Aim of the study is synthesis and investigation of new material to create cheap, efficient and stable thin film solar cells The following equipment has been used to produce silicon films doped with rare earth elements: vacuum deposition system UVN -75, VUP -5, VUP -5 upgraded. Study of the sample surface at the nanoscale level was performed with atomic force microscopy using a microscope NANOSURF MOBILE S. Investigation of the nanostructure of film thickness was carried out using transmission microscopy on a microscope JEM- 100 CX. Investigation of the structure of the experimental samples was done by X-ray diffraction using a diffractometer Bruker D8 Discover. To study depth distribution of elements in films Auger electron spectroscopy method was used ( LAS- 2000 spectrometer Riber). Charge state of europium impurities in silicon films was analyzed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, spectrometer Kratos Series 800 XPS. Optical properties of silicon films were measured with two-beam spectrophotometer 4802 UV / VIS UNICO Double Beam Spectrophotometer. In this study it was shown that the photo- and UV- sensitivity of nanocrystalline silicon films can be significantly improved by doping ith with rare earth metals (eg, yttrium, europium , dysprosium ). For the first time it was found that the photovoltaic properties of heterotransitionsbased on the basis of silicon films significantly improved by doping the active films of europium . The results are recommended to use in the development of sensitive photodetectors of visible and ultraviolet radiation , as well as efficient and stable solar cells.
