Aim of the study is synthesis and investigation of new material to create cheap, efficient and stable thin film solar cells The following equipment has been used to produce silicon films doped with rare earth elements: vacuum deposition system UVN -75, VUP -5, VUP -5 upgraded. Study of the sample surface at the nanoscale level was performed with atomic force microscopy using a microscope NANOSURF MOBILE S. Investigation of the nanostructure of film thickness was carried out using transmission microscopy on a microscope JEM- 100 CX. Investigation of the structure of the experimental samples was done by X-ray diffraction using a diffractometer Bruker D8 Discover. To study depth distribution of elements in films Auger electron spectroscopy ( LAS- 2000 spectrometer Riber) and mass spectroscopy of secondary neutrals (SNMS INA-X) methods were used. Charge state of europium impurities in silicon films was analyzed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, spectrometer Kratos Series 800 XPS. Optical properties of silicon films were measured with two-beam spectrophotometer 4802 UV / VIS UNICO Double Beam Spectrophotometer. Measurnment of photoelectric characteristics o thin films solar elements was performed Newport Oriel PV-testers – I-V-station та EQE/IQE-station equipment. In this study we have shown that the presence nanocrystals in depth in the amorphous matrix provides improved stability and photovoltaic characteristics of solar elements. First time the influence of the nature and concentration of impurities of rare earth elements on the characteristics of solar cells has been determined. Synthesized from nanocrystalline silicon films doped with rare earth elements, heterostructured solar cells demonstrated significant photoelectric effect and increased resistance to the action of intense radiation. The results are recommended to use in the development of sensitive photodetectors of visible and ultraviolet radiation , as well as efficient and stable solar cells.
