Research study objective: the development of a design concept of the AI-222-25F - based powerplant for operation at altitudes up to 25,000 to 40,000 m with flight velocities of Мflight= 0…6 (Contract No.22/12 - НИО dated 14.03.2012 made be-tween SE Yuzhnoye and SE Ivchenko-Progress). Research study stages: The following stages have been completed during the concept development: - analytical review of advanced powerplants for high-speed A/Cs; - development of a thermodynamic calculation algorithm for RAM; - definition of parameters and formation of a supersonic nozzle constructive lay-out for afterburning turbofan engine (ATFE) with a vectored thrust; - development of a mathematical model for ATFE with a supersonic nozzle; - development of RAM mathematical model; - definition of parameters and formation of RAM constructive layout; - calculation of RAM and ATFE characteristics; - estimation of the development cost. Theoretical and practical results of research: The research study resulted in the formation of the RAM and ATFE constructive layouts to be applied as integrated into a powerplant of a space transportation system (STS).
