The purpose of the study is development of the new method of synthesis of composite powders treated by the physical and chemical action of electrical discharges in fluids containing carbon and the development of the prototypes of the equipment for their spark-plasma sintering. Recommendations are compiled for the electrodischarge synthesis of composite powders by electrodischarge of powder mixtures Fe-Ti-C and WC-Co in a carbon fluid, which allows for synthesizing fine-dispersed micro- and nanosize metal carbides and low-melting eutectics in a Fe-Ti system. The components base of the prototype of the generator of plasma-spark sintering is produced and it consists of the power high-frequency rectifying transformer module, the high-frequency inverter with an air-cooling system, the transistor and control system drives. The rectifying transformer module intended for the target current with an amplitude value 1 kA (AC and DC superposition) includes: the rectifier modules on Schottky diodes, step-down transformer module, air cooling system and connecting copper buses. Working modes of the generator of plasma-spark sintering are explored for the test load by DC resistance 10 mOhm, and advance recommendations on making and maintenance of the equipment for plasma-spark sintering. Pilot experiments with the plasma-spark sintering were jointly conducted with the Frantsevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science and compared with the conventional sintering of composites.
