The purpose of research is to identify the collections of Research Institute of library artistic resources containing documents of Ukrainian art of XVIII-XX centuries; development and formation of computer database of artistic information and research reference and search tools for the practical work of art documents; writing of scientific descriptions of Ukrainian fine arts, music, photos and art criticism documents. Methods of research - statistical, analytical, comparative, descriptive. On the first phase of 1075 artworks were analysed. Researcher Larysa Kupchynska within monographic theme "Creative activity of Jerzy Hlohovskyj" accumulated sources that covers a set of documents relating to the life and work of Jerzy Hlohovskyj and other artists and cultural figures from West-Ukrainian regions in the first half of 19th century. Yurij Merduh analysed over 20 artworks by Ivan Filipovic, Lviv engraver and publisher of the middle of the 18th century. More than 400 artworks were discovered and partially described within researches "Architecture of Lviv in the graphics" and "Ukrainian sacred architecture in graphic collections of Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv". In the field of library resources on music and ethnomusicology archival heritage of the Ukrainian ethnomusicologist W. Hoshovsky (over 300 units) were analysed. In the area of library resources on Ukrainian photography the individual portraits and group photos of Ukrainian scientists, naturalists and mathematicians, were studied, which resulted in a published article (author A. Ilnytska). Also, articles were published, monographs were being prepared and annotated content index of the "Art" magazine (Lviv). Bibliography of archival materials about Christine Sanotska, Ukrainian art critic was prepared and this significantly expand the source base for the study of the history of art criticism in Western Ukraine in mid-twentieth century.
