It was shown that for the long-term storage regime, with the thermal convection improvement in hexagonal tube assembly, at the expense of air vents made in the hexagonal tubes, the SFA decay heat can be increased by 4% with preservation of the SFA peak cladding temperature design margin (item 2). There were proposed potential cask design modifications for upgrading the efficiency of SFA convection final heat removal.
