In 90 of them hypertension was associated with lower limb ischemia. We determined that patients with essential hypertension in combination with lower limb ischemia had higher levels of daily, nightly and mean diastolic pressure throughout the day and elevated peripheral vessel resistance. Treatment included enalapril, nicergoline, constant currents and sinusoidal modulated currents. Following treatment, all patients receiving electrotherapy have shown an improvement in the daily blood pressure profile, although the decrease in diastolic blood pressure was more distinct in patients who received sinusoidal modulated stream therapy along with drug therapy.
