The novelty of the research work consists in development of a new method to determine the permeability and sedimentation stability of ferrofluids that is confirmed by the Ukrainian patent. The theoretical importance of the scientific work consists of developed mathematical models and revealed relationships between magnetic fluid and external inhomogeneous magnetic field, as well as of studied coupled magnetic, electric and hydrodynamic processes in magnetic fluid located in active zone of ferrofluid device and of determined required characteristics of ferrofluid. The practical value of the research work consists in creation of the device to measure sedimentation stability of ferrofluids. The device gives a possibility to evaluate the quality of ferrofluids both at their making and during their use in ferrofluid equipment such as hermetic magnetic fluid seals.
