It was found out that the structure of technogenic load is mainly represented by heavy metals and biogenous ions that is explained by the presence of heavy industry, machine building, food processing and agriculture. As far as the Siverskyi Donets plays a key role for the drinking water provision of Donbass, the need for introduction of bioindication methods in addition to the existing environmental monitoring system is substantiated that will allow assessing the impact of anthropogenic impact on wildlife. The general scheme is developed and a set sensors for defining physical and chemical parameters is chosen in order to create an improved prototype of the automated biomonitoring complex (ABC) taking into the specific nature of the environmental load on the Siverskyi Donets water object. The measuring unit for studying phytoplankton fluorescence was designed as a part of the improved ABC prototype for aquatic environment. Concrete planktonic algae are recommended as testing cultures to assess the state of the aquatic environment. Response of basidiomycetes testing cultures to the effect of electromagnetic radiation was defined that can be used for indication of electromagnetic pollution (Wi-Fi, GSM networks). Strains of basidiomycetes were selected to serve as bioindicators in order to assess the ecological condition of the surrounding air. This will allow to qualitatively improve the environmental safety of the water supply to the population of Ukraine while demanding relatively low costs of production and adaptation. Existing alert levels for cyanobacteria were defined using different methods (direct counting of cells, in situ fluorophotometry, spectrophotometry, etc). Optimal experimental approaches were selected for the further investigation of the issue. The results of the study of biological indicators (planktonic algae, basidiomycetes) allow developing new technologies for environmental monitoring of the environment, provide additional information regarding the anthropogenic load on the environment in the industrial regions of Ukraine.
