Objective: to determine the influence of chromium and aluminum on structure, surface cations charge states and hydrate shell of zirconia nanoparticles, together with the impact of these factors on the structure and morphology of ceramics based on these nanoparticles. Methods: X-ray structural analysis, transmission and scanning electron microscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance and nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry thermal gravimetric analyses, methods of measuring electrical properties and non-resonant and resonant absorption. The new technique of nanocomposite ceramic materials production was developed as a result of investigations, which significantly differs from mechanical mixing of the components, which is traditionally used. The method is based on the synthesis of nanoparticles matrix component whose surface is doped with a certain chemical element. Based on the findings of zirconia - alumina spectral and structural methods the model of composite system evolution was developed, accounting high pressure and temperatures treatments and allowing composite morphology control with small variation of doping elements. Magnetic and electrical properties with non-resonant and resonant absorption of metamaterials based composites in gigahertz frequency range were also investigated.
