The purpose of research - development of methods and sorbents for the concentration of trace toxicants to reach the detection limit of 0.1-1.0 mkg/dm3 during routine analysis. Research methods - atomic absorption spectrometry, mass spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma, high performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection, chemiluminescence, solid phase extraction, diffused reflection spectrometry. Main results - the optimal conditions for solid-phase concentration of trace metals on membrane filters were investigated and the new rapid method for Sb determination in bottled water at level 4-100 ug/dm3 have been proposed; new photometric method for Mn(II) determination and improved method for chemiluminescent determination of aminoacids were developed. Optimazed highly sensitive method for 16 priority polyaromatic hydrocarbons determination by high performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection (HPLC/Fl) and solid-phase concentration were used for river water analysis ( Dnipro river), limit of determination is equal to 0,1-1,0 ng/dm3. The study was performed to introduce the method of mass- spectrometry with inductively -coupled plasma (ICP-MS) for routine practice of water analysis; method were used to assess the concentration level of more than 20 regulated chemical contaminants in water samples from various Ukranian rivers, many of the data were obtained for the first time. Experimental evalution were performed of the dominant factors that affect the accuracy and correction of the monoatomic phenols determination by fluorescent analyzer " Fluorat-02-3M" at the maximum permissible level. The standard methods for bromate-ions determination in drinking water were reviewed; the photometric method of iodate-ions determination in water have been validated and put into analytical practice at the plant for the production of bottled artifigially iodized drinking water, MLD - 10 ug/dm3. Hydrotalkitic sorbents for U(VI) traces sorption and concentration from natural and waste water were synthesized, subsequent determination by photometric method was used. Second version have been prepared of new national standard for water quality control DSTU ISO 17294-2:2003 "Water quality. Application of inductively coupled plasma mass-spectrometry (ICP-MS). Part 2: Determination of 62 elements". Field of application - protection of public health, protection of environment.
