The research goal is to analyse the existed welded trucks for freight cars, to select a variant of the equipment configuration of a three-element welded truck of freight cars for 1520 mm gauge, to develop the design and mathematical models to study vibrations of a car with welded-frame trucks. The research methods are mathematical modeling and computer simulation, statistical dynamics, mathematical statistics, vibration theory. The results obtained. Designs of trucks with an all-welded frame and of three-element trucks with welded side frames and bolsters developed for operation on West European railways and on railways with 1520 mm gauge are analyzed. Reasons are motivated by which applications of design principles of West European trucks for domestic freight cars are unacceptable. With an allowance for world and domestic experience for the existing trucks retrofit and creation of new trucks with the improved characteristics, the main criteria are determined and a variant of the equipment configuration of a three-element welded truck with the improved reliability and enhanced life time of structural elements of freight cars for 1520 mm gauge is selected. A design model and mathematical model of space vibrations of a gondola car with trucks, which have all-welded side frames and bolsters and a number of new elements, including elastic adapters in axle-box junctions and diagonal braces between side frames are developed.
