Research object is social mobility in contemporary Ukrainian society during the economic transition. Objective: development of theoretical principles to explore social mobility characteristics in contemporary Ukrainian society, that are determined by economic transition and social development transformation; Research methods: systematic approach, analysis of documentary and scientific sources, sociological observations of the adult population (standardized interviews), mathematical and statistical analysis, secondary data analysis of sociological surveys, expert interviews, content-analysis, comparative analysis, scientific forecasting. Main scientific results - methodological approaches were developed to determine the principles of analysis dealing with the link between social mobility processes in contemporary Ukrainian society and current socio-economic realities; effect of the key factors of system transformation was defined; new types of social mobility in contemporary Ukrainian society were shown; complex approach to the analysis of the working population mobility was developed and justified with a focus on financial position and parallel measurement of subjective expected mobility linked to economic strategies and behavior; new trends in educational-competency mobility and educational migration were revealed. Scientific novelty: for the first time, the impact of economic reforms on the processes of social mobility was scientifically grounded as an indicator of systematic social and transformational changes' efficiency. Practical results appear as proposals to stimulate social mobility in Ukrainian society through the introduction of flexible employment forms; widening settings for self-employment and entrepreneurship, and improvement of relevant skills learning; recommendations on perspective vectors of social and occupational factors in the labor field that are conducive to the social and economic growth; increasing the compensatory role of the state in the direction of minimizing the impact of financial factor on the possibility of getting education of a good quality; intensification of the state and civil society organizations cooperation. Results were used in the preparation of scientific and analytical reports, proposals, recommendations and other materials for central authorities.
