In the first approximation (assuming adiabatic flow processes, i.e. without taking into account heat loss and without considering the influence of ash) calculations and thermodynamic analysis of the principal features of the utilization of low-quality fuel are made. It was calculated the arrays with ideal numerical characteristics of the process, which can be used for further calculations, close to real-governmental process parameters. From consideration of the results of calculation it is obvious that the optimal modes for steam-oxygen gasification of coal are located in the vicinity of the stoichiometric value of the coefficient of oxygen consumption ? = 0.5 with the addition of a small amount of water vapor ? = 0.4. This mode is near the border of soot formation and the final decision about the optimal mode can be made after experimental studies of the kinetics of the process. Thermo-gravitational setting for studying the kinetics of pyrolysis and/or oxidation of the components of the low-grade fuel was created and prepared for further serial experiments.
