In the presented work the insects contained in the standard conditions didn't have any effect of the drug on the expression of genes associated with aging (hsp70, sir2 and InR), as in the normal state of the body, as well as after exposure to stressors . In case of stress the expression of genes hsp70 and InR in the flies treated whith 20 mmol/L of sodium butyrate that showed the most pronounced effect of prolonged life, also did not differ from the corresponding values in the control. At the same time the expression of gene sir2 in the same insects after shock (starving) was significantly higher than in the control group. We suggest that the identified long-term effects of sodium butyrate during the stage of the development of Drosophila melanogaster are associated with the induction of epigenetic changes that persist for a long time.
