Against the background of a moderate hypertrophy of the cardiomyocytes and myocytes in the arteriole wall there develop focal injuries predominantly in the left ventricle and septum wall. In the injury foci one observes the dystrophy (contractions or vacuolization), necrobiosis and necrosis of the cardiomyocytes (CMC), and also apoptosis, resulting in the organization, scarring and calcification. Age-related changes were largely manifest in the injury of microcirculatory system and cardiomyocytes in the old animals. Introduction of stem cells to the animals with isoproterenol-induced cardiomyopathy has produced definite normalization effect on the cardiomycytes and capillaries, being more pronounced in the young animals. The latter displayed less marked dystrophic and necrotic changes in the CMCs and more marked reparative processes. Besides, one observed the decrease of injury foci in the myocardium and the decrease of the apoptosis level predominantly in the young animals. The apoptosis index in these animals was almost two-fold lower while it remained unchanged in the old ones. In the other organs (liver, kidneys, small intestine and pancreatic gland), isoproterenol administered for cardiomyopathy modeling and stem cells transplantation did not cause any structural changes of the tissue either in young or old animals.
