Methods of research: online survey of socio-psychological rehabilitation and social services for families, children and youth services for children and professionals in social work (total respondents 218 people). There have also been used theoretical methods (analysis, synthesis, comparison, classification, generalization, etc.). Research objectives: 1. Make a social portrait of a child who was in difficult life circumstances. 2. To analyze the reasons of getting into difficult life circumstances families with children. 3. To analyze the causes of getting children into centers for social and psychological rehabilitation. 4. To investigate the forms of social work with families in difficult life circumstances. 5. To analyze the content of social services provided to children in the centers for social and psychological rehabilitation of children. 6. To investigate current practices of work with students of socio-psychological rehabilitation for children and their families. 7. Identify ways to improve the social protection of children in difficult life circumstances. Results and novelty: performed the analysis of the causes of getting children and families in difficult life circumstances, created a social portrait of a child who was in difficult life circumstances, identified forms of social work and services that get families and children who are in difficult situations, analyzed the content of social services provided to children in the centers for social and psychological rehabilitation of children and researched current practice of working with students of socio-psychological rehabilitation for children and their families. Developed ways to improve the social protection of children in difficult life circumstances. Application: social work, social pedagogy, social policy.
