The assessment of medico-social risk of HIV infection for workers of the health system was made at the national level for the first time as well as developing the system of prophylaxis of HIV infection at workplace, based on the ILO regulations. Methods: comparative analysis of national and world approaches to the problem of HIV/AIDS at workplace; questioning workers of medical and prophylactic institutions according to a specially designed questionnaire; classification of workers by sex, specialization of the establishment, age, work experience, occupational groups, qualification level; statistical assessment of the obtained results. Basing on the conducted analysis a conclusion has been made that, in general, the national policy and legislation of Ukraine support the realization of prevention of HIV-infection of medial workers to a considerable degree and that they are directed to control stigma and discrimination. The study on the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Ukraine among medical workers of various specializations was carried out, covering surgical departments, TB dispensaries. The obtained results enabled to develop a combination of measures on prevention of HIV/AIDS for medical workers at work place.
