Objective: To study the factors of male and female infertility in the remote period after the Chernobyl accident, identifying features and possible correction of disorders of reproductive function (DRF) in individuals exposed to ionizing radiation, or their descendants. Methods: clinical , cytological , cytogenetic , statistics. Investigated the morphological and functional features of spermatogenesis in men from couples with DRF, including those who lived in the contaminated territories , as well as in men who smoke . Examined the relationship of genetic factors, such as chromosomal abnormalities ( CA) , with the female and male infertility , as well as their influence on oogenesis , in vitro fertilization and pre-implantation embryo development in the application of ART . We studied the features of DRF in men and women exposed to ionizing radiation as a result of living in the contaminated areas after the Chernobyl accident. Comparison of the semen of men from clean and contaminated sites showed an increase in the latest volume of ejaculate and a decrease in sperm concentration . The analysis also showed the reduction in the concentration of sperm and increase the share of fixed sperm in smokers compared with men who do not smoke. In women with infertility revealed the following CA: reciprocal translocation , interstitial deletion , inversion of chromosome 9 , chromatid breaks , an increase in heterochromatic regions of the chromosomes and satellites. Analysis of embryological protocols showed an increased level of abnormal fertilization in women with CA compared with women without CA. Men with DRF found numerical and structural chromosom anomalies : translocations, deletions, inversions, Klinefelter's syndrome and karyotype 47XYY. They are associated with a significant deterioration in spermatogenesis , such as the number of sperm motility and morphology , which leads to a decrease in fertility or infertility. The spectrum of CA presented. We compared the semen of men with a normal karyotype and those that had a karyotype with chromosomal variants ( increased or decreased heterochromatic regions of chromosomes , satellites) . No significant differences were found. The features and the possible ways of correction DRF in men and women exposed to ionizing radiation as a result of living in the contaminated areas after the Chernobyl accident, were offered.
