Purpose - definition and the theoretical and practical grounding of pedagogical conditions of the formation self-preserving behavior rescues in teaching in higher education fire-technical profile. Methods: theory: analysis and synthesis of the literature (dissertations, abstracts, conference proceedings, papers, guidelines) pedagogical and historical trend for awareness, comparison and generalization of scientific data. empirical: observing the process of training future rescuers during learning in higher education fire-technical profile, communication with the teaching staff, conducting direct pedagogical support for this process and direct the heads of cadets, which rely responsibilities on social educational and humanitarian work of subordinates. Unresolved problems to protect rescuers at work in life-threatening conditions and, consequently, the increasing complexity of search and rescue of victims of disasters and natural calamities identified topicality of the subject of scientific research. At this stage conducted the theoretical analysis of the patterns of phenomenon behavior of the individual in general and approaches to formation self-preserving behavior specialists of operative-rescue service of civil protection in particular, identified and described conditions of their professional activities in order to determine the characteristics of this process, grounded system of work to ensure the realization of this process.
