The aim is to define mechanisms and regularities of formation of three-dimensional vortex structures in the wall region of turbulent flow on nonuniform surfaces. Methods are physical and numerical experiment. Method of numerical solution of the problem of determining the perturbed flow field on the deformed surfaces developed on the basis of non-stationary Navier-Stokes equations. Experimental model of cavity system with a variable angle of the cavity axis to the flow vector was developed. Measuring system on the basis of one and two-component thermoanemometers, sensors of pulsations of near-wall and the total pressure was adapted. The obtained numerical results show the possibility of drag reduction of surface with cavities compared with a homogeneous surface at certain parameters in the test cavity systems in the investigated range of Reynolds numbers.
