It is shown that the diffusive scattering into the front hemisphere increases with growth of the quantum nano-threads length which correlates with data on the Raman scattering of light and generation of the 3rd harmonic. In the studies of scattering into the rear hemisphere one has established that the intensity of scattered light decreases with growth of the thread length. In the case of nano-threads having dimensions comparable with the wavelength one observes a curl of modes of the Fabri-Perot template connected the silicon substrate. The dependence of the real part of the cubic non-linear permittivity of the composite material on the thickness of the quantum nano-threads layer has been investigated under the pico-second laser excitation at the 1064 nm wavelength. It is shown that the efficiency of photo-induced changes of the optical absorption under self-action of the laser pulses increases by two times as compared to the crystalline silicon due to the effect of light localization. The non-linear optical response of the porous silicon functionalized by the model surfactants under the ps laser excitation has been studied. One observed a significant dependence of the absorption magnitude and refraction sign in comparison to the non-modified por-Si. The proposed technique may be used for diagnostics of the interface states. The new methods to investigate kinetics of the electron recombination processes in the silicon nano-threads in the femto- and pico-second ranges have been developed.
