The velocity distribution of the cooled atoms is calculated. The effect of cooling laser radiation intensity on the spatial distribution of neon atoms in the atomic beam is investigated. The distributed feedback laser based on the planar waveguide with a bulk lattice on nanocomposite doped with laser dye was fabricated and tested. The laser generates the radiation in a wide range of pump energy with the spectral emission band-width not exceeding 0.05 nm and 5 mrad divergence. A theoretical model to explain the features of the propagation of laser radiation in a waveguide with a lattice is proposed. This model allows to find the conditions for which maximum efficiency of the emission output of the waveguide is achieved.
