Stage 4 popup.stage_title Head Kussul Nataliya, Registration Date 15-01-2014 Organization Space Research Institute popup.description2 The object of study is the information system for disaster monitoring based on Grid- technologies. Objective of the project is to develop a distributed information system for disasters monitoring and risk assessment using Grid technologies within the UN-SPIDER Regional Support Office in Ukraine aided by remote sensing, modelling and ground data. Methods of research are as follows: digital image processing, intelligent computations, object-oriented design and programming, systems analysis. The results of the project are as follows: 1. Development of pre-operational Grid services for disaster monitoring and risk assessment. 2. Operational delivery of geoinformation products and services to the end-users within UN-SPIDER RSO, in particular State Space Agency of Ukraine, Ministry of Emergencies of Ukraine, United Nations/UN-SPIDER, International Charter “Space and Major Disasters”. 3. International collaboration on the use and elaboration of Grid technologies for disaster monitoring (CEOS WGISS, GEO, NASA, European Earth Science Grid). Overall, the use of Grid technologies for processing data acquired by national and international remote sensing satellites made it possible to enable efficient monitoring of disasters within the UN-SPIDER initiative.
