The aim is to study the environmental and legal mechanisms for protective afforestation and agro-forestry in Ukraine. Theoretical and methodological basis for the study based on the system of philosophical and ideological, scientific and special legal methods: dialectical, systems analysis, structural-functional, comparative legal, historical, ecological and other predictive methods. Scientific novelty of the results of research is to improve the methodological approaches to defining features of the concept of sustainable development of forest ecosystems in the modern world. The practical significance of the study is to develop recommendations to improve the current organizational and legal forms the concept of sustainable development in the context of current legislation and management of forest industry in Ukraine.
