Purpose - to develop the conception of emergence and existence of endemic rickettsial infections areas under the influence of anthropogenic factors. Methods - epidemiological, microbiological, immunological, biological, molecular-genetic and statistical. We studied the development of the epidemic process of rickettsial infections in Ukraine and identified determinants of their endemicity formation. For the first time using the techniques of molecular epidemiology we have shown preservation of typhus pathogen in lice in separate foci on background of sporadic cases of the Brill disease. Formation of endemic areas for Q fever is closely linked with the existing natural and economic centers of infection, which appear acute ill residents of Odessa and Donetsk regions. There was a significant spread of tick-borne rickettsial spotted fever group in ixodid ticks and the availability of appropriate endemic areas outside the known endemic area of Crimea, which indicates the need for appropriate clinical and laboratory studies. The developed conception of formation and existence of the endemic areas for rickettsial infections under the influence of anthropogenic factors is designed to give a theoretical basis for the implementation of epidemiologic surveillance and appropriate control measures. We developed and proposed for implementation three health care guidelines on the base of this conception. We prepared annual information-analytical reviews on the epidemiological situation of rickettsial infections and Q fever, which were put into practice of the work of sanitary-epidemiological service of Ukraine.
