The object of research is the collection of samples of trees and shrubs of the State Arboretum "Ustymivs'kyy". The purpose of the work is provided to reveal patterns of formation collections samples ornamental crops in Southern Steppe of Ukraine, formation and registration of special collections of trees and shrubs, to ensure the conservation of biological diversity and the expansion of the gene pool Arboretum "Ustymivs'kyy". Scientific novelty of the results is to identify regularities of formation of sample collections of ornamental plants for the conditions of the Southern Steppe of Ukraine, the formation of special collections of trees and shrubs, the conservation of biological diversity and the expansion of the gene pool of the park. The scientific work is conducted according to procedures of the Institute Yurjev Plant Production Institute NAAS, "Instructions for the main phenological observations of wood and bush varieties" Instruction "Observations and scientific documentation in the Arboretum GNBG (list)" and "Guidelines for phenological observations and biometric measurements in the Arboretum GNBG", developed in the Department of Dendrology and ornamental horticulture State Nikitsky Botanical Garden (Kormilitsyn A.M., 1966). During the execution of the work used, complemented and appreciated collection of decorative wood and bush species volume 8465 plants that belong to the 472 taxa of 51 families, 370 species, 102 subspecies, garden forms, varieties and hybrids. The collection is stored in conservation plantings. The collection introduced 104 sample trees. Completed the formation of three special collections: a special collection on the grounds of softwood decoration (50 samples), a special collection of species of the family featured on Rosaceae decorative (90 samples), a special collection of ornamental species featured decorative (100 samples). Allocated 14 source and 2 donor on the grounds of resistance to pests and decoration. Created and shaped passport database on 5 samples collection for transmission to the registration in NCPGRU: Abies equi trojani Ascherset Sint., Picea abies (L.) Karst. 'Viminalis', Crataegus punctata Jacq., Rhodotypus kerrioides Sieb. et Zucc., Xanthoceras sorbifolium Bge., completed a study of these samples a range of indicators of adaptability, resistance to diseases and pests, decoration for further registration NCPGRU. Published 10 scientific papers.
