The objective of the work is to investigate and describe the identification, qualitative and value characteristics of precious, semi-precious and collectible stones that are usually found within the Western and Northern regions of Ukraine, study their consumption characteristics, create the reference database of their individual qualities, occurrence and geological structure of deposits and outcrops.The methods of the study are analytical study of the information collected from printed and electronic sources of the State Research and Production Enterprise "Geoinform of Ukraine" and Internet sources, visual and instrumental study of samples of precious and semi-precious stones selected from outcrops and deposits within territories under the study, and also from private collections and collections of museums of the Institute of Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Ore Formation at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and National Museum of Natural History at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The identification, qualitative and value characteristics of precious and semi-precious stones from deposits and outcrops which are located in the West and North of Ukraine were examined in the work. Their applicability for processing was described and promising ways of their practical application were determined. The database of deposits and outcrops of precious and semi-precious stones of Western and Northern regions was created. Predicted suppositions regarding the development of the object of the study (the results of Scientific and Research work) will be introduced in the State Gemmological Centre of Ukraine to optimize and improve the procedures of realization of precious and semi-precious stones examination in Ukraine, to provide with consultations and clarifications according to the Article 15 Section 4 from the Law of Ukraine "State Regulation of Mining, Production and Application of Precious Metals and Precious Stones and Control over the Related Operations" from 18 November 1997 №637/97-VR, and also Paragraph 2 from the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 7 September 1993 №713 "Establishment of the State Gemmological Centre of Ukraine".
