The objects of the study are regulations of legislation of Ukraine, precious and semi-precious stones removed from the deposits and outcrops of Ukraine. The methods of the study are gemmological examination of samples of precious and semi-precious stones removed from the deposits and outcrops of Ukraine, office analysis of the information collected from the printed (bibliographic data, reports of geological explorations) and electronic sources (Internet). The expectations are the list of regulations regulated production and procedures with precious and semi-precious stones, which should be studied to establish artisanal mining of minerals in Ukraine; the list of precious and semi-precious stones which are feasible to be mined by artisanal method. The results of the research work will be applied in the State Gemmological Centre of Ukraine (herein - SGCU) to provide with consultations and methodical providing of geological exploration, mining, processing enterprises and other specialized organizations, operators of decorative stones market according to the Regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 07.09.93 № 713 "Establishment of the State Gemmological Centre of Ukraine".
