The most aggressive and harmful factors are atmospheric precipitations enriched with acidic components of natural origin (carbon dioxide and organic acids) and anthropogenic origin (sulfur and nitrogen compounds). Typical defects were listed according to the classification of Fitzner-Heinrichs: formation of additional relief as a result of selective weathering of less stable mineral phases, chipping on the surface of the product, loss of polishing as a result of planar weathering, change of the original color of the rock, ferruginization as a result of oxidation of iron-containing phases , dense crust sediments of iron oxides and hydroxides, carbonate efflorescence, colonies of microorganisms and lower flora, thermal deformation of the facing elements, planar exfoliation, granulation, thermal cracks and crevices.
