An overview of the WENRA reference levels on safety issues is provided, a methodology for assessing compliance of regulatory requirements with the reference levels is presented. In a tabular form the results of a self-assessment of the existing nuclear and radiation safety regulations concerning the safety of nuclear power plants are provided. The self-assessment results are analyzed, summarized, and a comparative analysis against the corresponding data for European countries is carried out.
