The subject of the study is theoretical and methodological basis of shaping children and youth's intercultural competence and readiness for intercultural dialogue via musical art. Principal scientific results Realization of the project enabled obtaining new scientific knowledge and for the first time developing (substantiating): concception of intercultural education of schoolchildren and students via musical art; organizational and pedagogical basis of intercultural activities of university cultural centers, that are based on summing up international experience; basic directions and forms of foreign students' extracurricular activities aimed at shaping their intercultural conscience and tolerance; pedagogical techniques of shaping intercultural competence and readiness for intercultural dialogue of schoolchildren and students via musical art; curriculum for schoolchildren's intercultural education via musical art concretized in the elective course Music between cultures for pupils of 8th form of general education institutions that was approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine; lesson by lesson concretization of its content is made and multimedia materials for each topic is created; lecture course Music between cultures for students who study in the fields of Elementary Education, Correction Education, Practical Psychology, Pre-school Education aimed at shaping intercultural musical competence via comparison of national music and music of other cultures within special topical blocs (national anthem and national symbols, traditional songs, dances and musical instruments, composers' music and stylization, sacral music); due to use of these blocs a number of courses were modified, namely theory and methodology of musical education, Special techniques of musical education.
