It is shown that increasing of the heating rate for Zr from 2.5 to 7.5°C/min and for Zr-1% Nb alloy from 5 to 20°C/min helps to reduce the size of the oxide film ZrO2. Was established that increasing of temperature from 750°C to 800°C for 5 h exposure leads to changes of the oxidation law from the parabolic to the quasi-linear. Was defined the surface micro-hardness and its distribution over the cross section of the metal. By metallographic analysis was studied the surface and cross-section samples of Zr-1%Nb zirconium alloy and Zr after diffusion saturation by interstitial element.
