Work purpose: prepare and print scientific-technical handbook, which are synthesized research results of the authors and known in the literature publications about fracture of a surface layers of a cyclically contacting bodies (machine details, and in particular tribojoint units). Residual life of the trybojoints elements, in particular rolling pairs and fretting pairs, according to criteria of typical contact-fatigue damages (spalling, pitting, cracking, "dark spots", etc.). Research methods: singular integral equations method of contact problems for bodies with cracks, mechanical quadratures method, method of mass forces. The basic results: The models of a tribojoints evaluation contact durability based on fracture mechanics approach have been reviewed. The features of contact cyclic interactions (rolling, fretting fatigue, pulsing contact, friction fatigue) and typical contact-fatigue damages (pitting, spaling, cracking, "dark spots", cavities, etc.) in rolling pairs elements (wheel-rail, rollers of rolling mills, cylindrical roller bearings, gears, etc.), as well as some elements of fretting pairs have been described. The basic position of fatigue fracture mechanics has been presented. A calculation model for evaluation of contact durability of movable and immovable joints according to the criteria of formation of typical contact- fatigue damage has been proposed. Algorithms of path constructing of fatigue cracks propagation in the surface areas of joint contact elements from solutions of contact problems of the mathematical theory of cracks within the parameters of the operating conditions of conjugations and characteristics of cyclic crack resistance of materials under conditions of transverse shear and normal opening have been developed.
