The structure of the stress-strain field in the vicinity of the notch tip is examined. This field consists a static plastic zone, within which cyclic plastic zone and prefracture (process) zone are formed. The unified model of fatigue fracture on the crack initiation and propagation stages based on the new structural-mechanical parameter of the material - process zone size is presented. The scheme, which establishes a relationship between the macrocrack initiation and propagation stages are suggested.
